Global Grooves launches 'groovesnet.com' !
Network!
GroovesNet is the UK’s only social networking site dedicated to international percussion, dance, song and art. This site is the perfect place to meet like-minded artists and groups and share your love for international performing arts. Whether your passion is Samba, Salsa, Carnival Arts, Bhangra or just simply curious GroovesNet is for everyone. Plug your gig or class, meet new friends or find events in your area; GroovesNet is developed by the community for the community. This project has been put together by volunteers to try and encourage the UK’s international music and dance network to grow from strength to strength. The site is still in its early stages of development but we welcome anyone in the creative industry to sign up and enjoy our site!

July 2009 Global Grooves Helps to develop Cabasa Carnival Arts.
Global Grooves has supported the northwest only dedicated carnival arts centre; Cabasa Carnival Arts. We have supported them in the development of their board and funding bids to secure a studio space , equipment and materials. The centre will be open late 2009 and can be used by any Carnival Arts Organisation. More information coming soon.

Global Grooves Secures Arts Council England Funding.
Global Grooves has been awarded £4000 from Arts Council England to help support Afoxé Manchester.

Global Grooves announces Afoxé Manchester -Our first Parade! This event is being presented as part of Manchester Jazz festival 2009. This event is now full but come and watch the exciting performance in Manchester City Centre on the 1st August!!
May 2009 Project development trip to Brazil.
Three of our core management team will be travelling to Brazil to source musical instruments and materials for the 2009 / 10 programme. In addition to equipping Global Grooves with professional equipment for it’s training courses we will also be organizing several meetings with potential tutors and performers.

Global Grooves secures a partnership with Band on the Wall.
We are very Happy to announce that from September 2009 all Global Grooves short courses will be delivered in partnership with Band on the Wall as part of their core education programme. Courses will be delivered in the New Band on the wall building that will be opening in September!! Exciting Stuff!!

Global Grooves secures funding from The Grassroots fund
The Grassroots grant will be used to develop our costume design for the Afoxé ’09 providing the foundation for more Carnival arts projects in 2010. We will also allocate father funding from Grassroots to help develop our 2010 workshop / training programmes.
About Grassroots grant
The purpose of The Grassroots Fund is to encourage and support small local informal voluntary and community groups and organisations, many of whom are dependent on volunteers. This may be the first grant for many of the groups that apply to the Grassroots Fund.The Grassroots Fund programme will be available for local organisations for a period of three years from summer 2008 to March 2011.

Global Grooves welcomes Vera Oliveira
Its with great pleasure we welcome Vera Oliveira, one of the most inspirational and knowledgeable choreographers and performers we have had the pleasure to work with. Vera will be flying in from São Paulo, Brazil in mid February to help advise and deliver our first course. Very exciting!!

Global Grooves is happy to announce that this year's short courses and master-classes will be hosted by the Zion Arts Centre. We are also currently in discussion with Band On The Wall to secure a partnership opportunity for future study courses and training as part of their education programme. More details coming soon.

Global Grooves 09 receives sponsorship from British Airways.
Global Grooves is happy to announce that British Airways have agreed to part sponsor the Global Grooves 09 programme of work. Match funding is required to run the project in its entirety and we are currently seeking sponsorship from other organisations and writing a funding application to submit to the Arts Council.
