Community: Turn trash to treasure

Work alongside other likeminded folk in your area to inject life and experience into the collection process, fabrication, and community energy of the Junk Jam project.

The central ethos of Junk Jam project is to show what amazing things can be done through simple, cheap (or free!) processes. Using recycled materials, costumes and mobile sculptures will be created by a specialist team of artists and fabricators, with opportunities to get involved for both young people and excited adults.

Global Grooves has dedicated over a decade to the development of community work through music, dance, and costume projects whilst strengthening community links between organisations. We believe in the power of educating young people and adults to promote the benefits of both recycling initiatives and creative involvement.

We are offering your community the chance to get involved.

Our creative team of tutors offer community groups and their members the chance to get involved in a series of workshops in the Tameside area leading up to a local performance, with the possibility of a further event at a high profile Manchester-based event. Your involvement may see the elder community making costumes for primary school pupils. Perhaps your community networks and/or leaders would like to become partners of our work and gain greater insight into Global Grooves’ method of delivering such work. Our key aim is to bring together groups who ordinarily would not encounter each other’s work, whilst promoting imaginative sustainable project work with real impact.
